What is Income Protection Insurance?

Income protection insurance replaces your income when you’re unable to work, so that you can pay the bills, support your loved ones, and maintain your lifestyle.

There are two primary categories of policies to consider: Permanent Health Insurance (PHI) and Accident, Sickness, and Unemployment Cover (ASU). Although both offer income protection, they are very much distinct policies.

The key difference between these policies is the length of financial coverage. PHI ensures long-term protection, with payments continuing until a specified retirement age. ASU provides short-term coverage, usually limited to a maximum of 12 months. In both cases, a tax-exempt monthly benefit is provided, protecting your livelihood during your time of need.
